The crisis between Fubara and Wike began shortly after Fubara became governor in 2023. President Tinubu’s intervention led to the declaration of a state of emergency, suspending Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the state Assembly.
Wike had reportedly wanted Fubara outrightly removed from office, but Tinubu’s intervention saved the suspended Governor.
