Four men have lost their lives, and five others sustained serious injuries in a road accident near Enuda High School, Abiriba, in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The crash involved a truck transporting tiles and doors from Port Harcourt to Abiriba. The impact was so severe that the vehicle reportedly broke into three parts, leading to the deaths of four male occupants.

Residents offered differing accounts of the cause, with some blaming excessive speed, while others suggested the truck may have suffered brake failure before the collision.

The injured were promptly taken to a hospital in Abiriba by officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Abia State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) for urgent medical attention.

Confirming the incident, FRSC Abia State Sector Command Sector Officer, Mrs. Ngozi Ezeoma, said, “There was a crash involving nine male adults, and four male adults out of the nine regrettably lost their lives while the rest were injured.”

Commenting on the tragedy, Ohafia Local Government Chairman, Eleanya Ojuu Kalu, described the deaths as a significant loss to the Abiriba community and the wider area. He also commended the swift response of the Abiriba Police Division, the FRSC Zonal Commander, and ARTMA officials at the accident scene.
