JUST IN: Pirates Abduct 4 Market Women in Bayelsa

• Four people have been abducted from a boat in Bayelsa state.

• The victims were said to have been abducted while returning from the market by pirates.

A gang of pirates have attacked a passenger boat in Bayelsa state.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that a total of twelve passengers were robbed before the four women were kidnapped.

The attack occured along the Lobia/Foropa Waterways in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Tuesday, April 29.

Confirming and reacting to the incident, the representative of the Southern Ijaw Constituency 4 at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Selekaye Victor-Ben said;

“This is a cowardly attack on innocent citizens who were simply trying to earn their livelihoods. It is not only an affront to our shared humanity but also a grave threat to the peace and economic well-being of our constituency and the entire state. I vehemently condemn this barbaric act in the strongest possible terms and stand in solidarity with the families of the victims during this agonizing time,” 

Hon. Victor-Ben also called on the state government, pleading for security support in the area.
