Four minutes after kickoff, Asisat Oshoala latched onto a perfect cross from Omorinsola Babajide and headed down into the net to give Nigeria the lead and the upper hand.

From the first whistle, the Falcons went on the attack and basically controlled the entire game.

Chiamaka Nnadozie was very alert, but then there was not much action on her end as Nigeria’s defence and midfield pressed hard up front for the entire duration of the match.

Just before the half-time interval, Babajide once again found the target as she placed her finish neatly from just outside the box.

Barely minutes after that, Ashleigh Plumptre thought she had put the icing on the cake with a third goal, but the referee ruled it out citing a foul in the build-up.

Then Justine Madugu decided to make some changes by bringing on Chiwendu Ihezuo, Christy Ucheibe, and Esther Okoronkwo.

Six minutes to the end of the game, Ihezuo calmly buried a loose ball to seal the win.

Meanwhile, the nine-time African champions now sit atop Group A with six points from two matches

Next up, they face Botswana on Wednesday.
