Nigerian businessman and socialite Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, has appealed to the public to stop the practice of spraying money at social events, describing it as a violation of the law.
In a post shared via Instagram on Thursday, E-Money reminded Nigerians of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) directive against spraying or mishandling currency at parties and other gatherings.
“Let’s celebrate responsibly and avoid fines. Respect our currency!” he wrote.

He advised partygoers to give money respectfully, saying, “If you must give money at a party, make sure you put it in a basket or in a bowl or container in front of the person at the party. Don’t drop any currency on the floor.”
He added that not knowing the law does not exempt anyone from facing its consequences.
His remarks come shortly after reports surfaced that he was invited by the EFCC for questioning over alleged abuse of both the Naira and the U.S. Dollar at public events.
The EFCC has intensified its crackdown on currency abuse in recent months, particularly targeting influential individuals who engage in the public spraying or mutilation of money — an offense punishable under Nigerian law.
