Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has firmly refuted recent match-fixing allegations made by a radio presenter during a sports programme in Ibadan.
The presenter accused the club of intentionally throwing away a two-goal lead in their match against Katsina United and allegedly selling out their South West derby against Remo Stars, which ended 1-0 in favor of the visitors.
In response to the growing controversy, the Oluyole Warriors released a detailed statement on Friday, calling the Shooting Stars match-fixing allegations “baseless, barbaric, and unfounded.”

> “We are therefore, compelled to react swiftly to these baseless, barbaric and unfounded allegations,” the club stated.
Shooting Stars Condemns Presenter’s Unfounded Claims
According to the club, the presenter’s comments were not only unprofessional but also damaging to the reputation of the team, the players, and its leadership.
> “We totally frowned on the unprofessional outburst of the presenter, making references to the matches, our players as well as other individuals, who he mentioned as culprits,” the statement continued.
Shooting Stars also emphasized that no official had spoken to the radio station, casting doubt on the source of the presenter’s claims, particularly the allegation involving club Chairman Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan ‘Akoro’, who was accused of offering bribes to match officials.
> “We want to state clearly that nobody from the club granted interview on the radio station and we therefore, wonder how the presenter came up with his reports that our Chairman, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan ‘Akoro’ offered match officials money during some of our games.”
