The Niger State Police Command has taken four men into custody for allegedly damaging electric transformers in Gbodoti village, Edati Local Government Area.

The suspects—Mohammed Baba, Mohammed Ndako, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and Mohammed Ibrahim, all from Gbodoti—were apprehended on September 3, 2025, around 8 a.m., the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed.

SP Abiodun said the arrests were made following intelligence reports. The suspects confessed during questioning that they conspired to steal transformer cables from both Gbodoti and neighboring Guzzan villages. They have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
In a separate case, the police also arrested Muhammad Usman, a resident of Guiye-Doko village in Kwara State, on September 5, 2025, at around 8:30 p.m. in Makera town, Mashegu LGA. Authorities found him with two locally made guns and six rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
According to SP Abiodun, “During interrogation, Usman admitted buying the weapons in Soba village via Kaboji, Mashegu LGA, at N180,000 each and the ammunition at N5,000 each from an unknown individual.” The police are continuing investigations to locate and apprehend the person who fabricated the firearms.
NSCDC Arrests Suspected Fraudster in Adamawa Over ₦9 Million Scam
The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended a 28-year-old man suspected of defrauding unsuspecting victims of more than ₦9.08 million.
The command’s spokesperson, Nyako Baba, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday in Yola that the suspect was arrested on September 2 in Timbokum village, Ganye Local Government Area. The arrest followed a complaint filed at the NSCDC divisional office in Mubi.
