FG extends support to farmers, water projects
The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has disbursed ₦2.086 billion to 20,919 undergraduates across the North-West region as part of its interest-free student loan scheme. The initiative is aimed at reducing the financial burden of tuition and supporting students in higher institutions.
The Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Katsina State, Alhaji Mukhtar Lawal-Tsagem, announced the disbursement during a sensitisation programme in Katsina on Tuesday, organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

He explained that beyond education, the administration had rolled out targeted interventions in agriculture, infrastructure, and water supply.

“In Kebbi, wheat farmers in 12 local government areas were supported under the NAGAP programme, while ginger farmers in Kaduna received ₦1.6 billion support. The ₦2 billion Yawuri Water Scheme is another Federal Government-backed project already impacting lives in the North-West,” he said.
In his presentation, Adamu Muhammed, a lecturer at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, urged citizens to sustain goodwill with the government to attract further development.
He further charged local representatives to be more accountable to the people, insisting that funds allocated to grassroots projects must reflect in visible progress.
