  • Delta activist calls for people-oriented projects to drive industrial growth.

  • Says Delta State has resources to launch its own airline and create jobs.

  • Warns of anti-business policies hurting state’s economic prospects.

Delta State environmental rights activist and United Nations Peace Ambassador, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to prioritise industrialisation and people-centred projects that will transform the state’s economy and create jobs for young people.

Speaking at a press conference in Asaba, Comrade Mulade, who is the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, emphasised the need for the government to launch bold initiatives that would boost industrial growth and improve living standards in the state.

Mulade cited governors in Akwa Ibom and Enugu states, including Pastor Umo Eno and Peter Mbah, as examples of leaders implementing impactful projects. He particularly noted Enugu State’s recent launch of an airline despite earning less than half of Delta’s revenue.

“Delta State has more resources to float Delta Airways, which will create employment opportunities for our youths and industrialise the state,” he said.

The peace advocate stressed that while infrastructure is important, job creation and industrialisation are critical for sustainable economic growth and peace. He also criticised state policies he described as anti-business, warning they are stifling economic activity.

“I want to strongly appeal to His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, to prioritise industrialisation as the key to saving our deteriorating economy. The Delta business environment is not healthy because of government policies that are not economically friendly,” Mulade stated.
