The Katsina Police Command has apprehended a 28-year-old man suspected of being a notorious car thief in Katsina metropolis.
DSP Abubakar Aliyu, spokesperson for Katsina Police, said in a statement on Thursday that the arrest was part of renewed efforts to tackle car theft in the state.

According to him, on August 30 at around 8:00 a.m., the Anti-Kidnapping Unit received information that a black 2019 Toyota Corolla, stolen from the residence of Sunday Solomon of the Federal Housing Authority in Lugbe, Abuja, had been traced to Katsina.
“Upon receipt of the information, detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit swung into action and successfully tracked the stolen vehicle to the Kofar-Kwaya area, Katsina metropolis,” Aliyu said.
He added that operatives arrested Muhammad Abdullahi, aged 28, of Kofar-Kaura quarters, Katsina, who was found in possession of the vehicle.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to receiving the stolen car from one Abdul, also known as Dukiya, of Malumfashi, Katsina State, another notorious car snatcher who is still at large.
Aliyu said Katsina Police were continuing efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and others connected to the case.
The Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reassured residents of Katsina Police’s commitment to combating crime. He also urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to help security agencies maintain safety in the state.
