  • 98 suspects were apprehended by the Kano State Police Command for offences including armed robbery, kidnapping, thuggery, and related crimes.
  • Operation Kukan Kura, a newly introduced strategy, has significantly reduced crime through intelligence-led raids, patrols, and collaboration with community stakeholders.
  • Recovered items from suspects include weapons, stolen vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, counterfeit US dollars, illicit drugs, and mobile phones.

The Kano State Police Command has arrested ninety-eight suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, thuggery (Daba), and various other criminal offences across the state.

State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this while addressing journalists, where he also appreciated the media for its ongoing role in promoting safety and public awareness.

He highlighted the success of Operation Kukan Kura, a new initiative integrated into the Command’s broader security efforts, which he said has made significant progress in tackling crime in the state.

“These strategies included intelligence-led raids, visibility patrols, improved collaboration with other security agencies, strategic communication, and robust community policing engagements involving traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, NGOs, CSOs, and the media,” Bakori explained.

He noted that the press briefing was intended to update the public on the recent breakthroughs and the operational measures being employed by the Command to combat insecurity.

A wide variety of items were recovered from the suspects, including dangerous weapons, stolen vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones, hard drugs, and counterfeit currencies.

“Among the exhibits recovered were counterfeit US dollars, vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, and chemical substances,” the commissioner stated, thanking residents for their continued support.

He further encouraged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or through the emergency hotline: 08032419745.

Nigerian on Solo Bicycle Journey to the US Arrives Ghana

Nigerian adventurer Emmanuel Myam, popularly known as Emmiwuks, has arrived in Ghana as part of his daring solo bicycle journey from Lagos to the United States. The 25-year-old, who began his cross-continental ride on July 1, has already cycled through Benin Republic and Togo, reaching Ghana in just 10 days.

A native of Benue State, Emmiwuks first gained attention in 2022 when he cycled from Makurdi to Lagos in a bid to meet Afrobeats superstar Davido. Now, he is undertaking an even more ambitious journey, inspired by personal hardship and a brush with death in 2023.
