The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two fugitives wanted by international authorities—Felix Omoregie and Okwudili Ezeje—for serious crimes including human trafficking and armed robbery.

Felix Omoregie, also known as “Eghosa Johnson Omoregie,” was captured in Benin City, Edo State, while Okwudili Ezeje, aged 37, was arrested in Nsukka, Enugu State. The arrests were carried out in collaboration with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that Omoregie had been evading justice since his conviction in absentia by a Belgian court in 2021. He was found guilty of multiple charges of aggravated human trafficking and leading a criminal organisation.

“Omoregie is accused of trafficking young Nigerian women, including minors, to Italy and subsequently dispersing them across Europe for sexual exploitation,” Adejobi said. “Victims were subjected to voodoo-based oaths and psychological coercion, with fabricated debts ranging between €20,000 and €50,000 used to manipulate and control them.”

He explained that Omoregie’s criminal network operated across Brussels and France, where his associates managed the victims and funneled proceeds back to him. Upon his arrest, police recovered incriminating evidence from his home, including a photocopy of a passport intended for a planned relocation to Canada.

In a separate operation, authorities also tracked down Okwudili Ezeje, who is wanted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for armed robbery, drug trafficking, cultism, and coordinating criminal operations from within Nigeria.

Adejobi stated, “Ezeje is wanted by authorities in the United Arab Emirates for a series of serious crimes, including armed robbery, cultism, drug trafficking, and other organised criminal activities.”

According to intelligence reports, Ezeje remained active in orchestrating crimes from Nigeria and is believed to be connected to a number of high-profile robberies in Dubai and Sharjah. These include an armed robbery at a grocery store in Dubai Mall, a targeted attack on Al Ansari Exchange in Jumeirah, and another robbery at a Bureau de Change in Jebel Ali Village.

Adejobi noted that Ezeje’s arrest was made possible through coordinated efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and Dubai Police.

He added, “The arraignment of Okwudili Ezeje is expected to take place shortly.”
