British actor Idris Elba has declared Lagos “the most amazing city in the world,” celebrating the Nigerian megacity’s vibrant energy, creativity, and cultural dynamism.
Elba shared his impressions during an ETalk TV interview on the red carpet at the TIFF Tribute Awards on September 7, reflecting on his visit while filming Dust to Dreams. He described Lagos as a city teeming with incredible talent and said he departed with “a wealth of incredible memories.”

The actor singled out a moment when British singer Seal, of Nigerian descent, performed while adopting a Nigerian accent, calling it one of the highlights of his visit.

Elba’s accolades include a Golden Globe for Luther, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Beasts of No Nation, and an OBE for services to drama.
He was also named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2016.
His praise adds to growing international recognition of Nigeria’s film and creative industries, which have increasingly attracted global directors and actors to Lagos in recent years.
