Concerns rise over precedent for Nigeria’s democratic structure.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to issue a formal apology for the suspension of Governor Siminilayi Fubara in Rivers State.
The Deputy National Youth Leader of the party, Timothy Osadolor, said the President overstepped constitutional boundaries by declaring emergency rule in the state.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Osadolor warned that Tinubu’s intervention undermined the separation of powers, setting a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democratic framework.
“Yes, I think the President is overreaching when I read the last paragraph of his speech, where he spoke to governors as if he were a headmaster in a classroom. He should apologise. I felt he should understand fully well that there is a clear division of powers,” Osadolor said.
Political analysts note that the call for apology reflects growing tension between the Presidency and opposition parties over executive overreach.
