Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a significant breakthrough in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, neutralizing five Boko Haram terrorists during a clearance operation in the Ladin Buttu area of Sambisa Forest.
The operation, which was carried out during a recent patrol mission, is part of a broader offensive aimed at dismantling remaining insurgent strongholds.
Ladin Buttu, a key location within Sambisa, has long been exploited by terrorists as a strategic hideout due to its terrain and access to essential resources.

Military sources disclosed to Zagazola Makama that the troops encountered the insurgents during a routine sweep and engaged them in a fierce gun battle. By the end of the clash, five terrorists were confirmed dead, while others managed to flee with gunshot injuries.
During the operation, the soldiers recovered three AK-47 rifles, five loaded magazines, and various other military-grade equipment believed to have been prepared for future assaults.
This development highlights the Nigerian military’s sustained momentum in eradicating insurgent groups in the northeast. It follows recent directives from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who ordered intensified ground offensives and expanded air surveillance during a visit to the frontline.
Troops have since expanded their operations deeper into insurgent hideouts, including the Sambisa Forest, Timbuktu Triangle, and areas around Lake Chad, as part of efforts to weaken both Boko Haram and ISWAP factions.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist cells until lasting peace is restored across the region.
Air Peace Aircraft Hits Antelope at Abuja Airport, Causes Flight Disruptions
An Air Peace aircraft collided with a large antelope while taxiing on the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, leading to temporary disruptions in scheduled flights.
The incident, which occurred over the weekend, resulted in the aircraft being marked as Aircraft on Ground (AOG)—a designation indicating it was unfit for immediate service. This led to delays and cancellations for passengers scheduled to fly on the affected aircraft.
