Kemi Badenoch, leader of the UK Conservative Party, has criticised Britain’s immigration policies, saying Nigerians are exploiting the system to gain citizenship far more easily than they could in their own country.

Speaking during an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Sunday, Badenoch expressed frustration over her inability to confer Nigerian citizenship on her children due to her gender, despite holding it herself by birth.

“It’s virtually impossible, for example, to get Nigerian citizenship. I have that citizenship by virtue of my parents. I can’t give it to my children because I’m a woman,” Badenoch stated.

She contrasted this with how Nigerians in the UK “stay for a relatively free period of time” before acquiring British passports, arguing that Britain must “stop being naive” about its immigration laws.
