Residents around Gotar Aliero by Oando in Birnin Kebbi were met with shock on Monday morning as the body of a man was found in a pool of blood at the entrance to the central market.
The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the death, identifying the victim as 35-year-old Auwal Umar from Katami village in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar said Umar was allegedly murdered by his friend, 30-year-old Bello Amakwa from Birnin Kebbi, after an earlier disagreement at Kara Market.
Amakwa is said to have returned later that night and fatally stabbed Umar while he was asleep. He was taken into custody and, according to police, admitted to committing the crime during interrogation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, condemned the act and urged young people to avoid violence and allow the law to take its course. He assured the public that the suspect will face prosecution and justice will prevail.
Actor Jerry Williams Arrested by Izutech Amid Allegations of N2.5M Fraud
Popular Nollywood actor Jerry Williams has reportedly been arrested at his residence in Delta State by operatives of the Edo State Police Command, allegedly led by Nwafor Franklin, popularly known as Izutech.
The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, July 21, 2025. Fellow actor Stanley Ontop raised the alarm in a video posted to Instagram, urging the public to hold Izutech responsible for Jerry’s safety.
