The President of Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF President, Engr Ifedayo Akindoju, is dead.

Akindoju’s death was announced via a statement issued by the federation on Friday.

Akindoju, widely regarded as a pillar Of Nigerian tennis, led the Federation with passion, commitment, and vision.

Under his leadership, the sport witnessed a resurgence with renewed focus on grassroots development, international exposure for players, and stronger administrative structures to support coaches, officials, and athletes.

According to the statement, the late NTF president died on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Nizamiya Hospital in Abuja.

Describing his death as a monumental loss, the NTF said;

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) announces the passing of our President, Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju, who left us on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

“The Federation extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire tennis community in Nigeria and beyond. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
