  • Mohbad’s father has demanded that the Lagos State Government prosecute his wife and the auxiliary nurse.
  • The Coroner ruled that the nurse acted unlawfully and negligently by giving Mohbad an injection.
  • Magistrate Shotobi also blamed Mohbad’s wife for treating him at home.
  • Joseph Aloba, through his lawyer, gave the Lagos State Government 14 days to file charges.

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has called on the Lagos State Government to prosecute his daughter-in-law Omowunmi Aloba, auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and others indicted in the Coroner’s Inquest into the late singer’s death.

Joseph Aloba, father of the late music star Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has urged the Lagos State Government to file criminal charges against his daughter-in-law, Omowunmi Aloba, and others linked to the singer’s death.

The request was made in a letter written by his lawyer, Wahab Shittu (SAN), and addressed to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN).

Aloba specifically asked that auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who administered an injection to Mohbad shortly before his death, be prosecuted. He also called for charges against others who were present in the apartment that day, particularly those who invited the nurse or failed to rush the singer to a recognised medical facility.

In July 2025, Coroner Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi described the actions of Ogedengbe as “unlawful and professionally negligent,” stressing that she gave an injection without a doctor’s prescription. The Coroner recommended her prosecution for medical negligence.

Magistrate Shotobi also faulted Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi, for attempting to treat him at home rather than seeking immediate hospital care.

Despite these findings and recommendations, more than two months have passed without the Lagos State Government filing charges.

Expressing concern, Joseph Aloba’s lawyer said the failure of the authorities to act on the Coroner’s verdict has further delayed justice.

He warned that the Attorney-General must exercise prosecutorial powers and bring charges within 14 days, especially given the sensitivity of the case and the level of public interest.
