Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement and 2023 PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), has cautioned former President Dr Goodluck Jonathan against bowing to pressure to contest the 2027 presidential election, warning that such a move would be a costly political misstep.

Speaking in Lagos during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Jandor said those urging Jonathan to face President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the polls were “deceiving him,” insisting that Tinubu’s deep-rooted political structure remains far stronger than any opposition figure can match.

“It was this same man (Tinubu) who defeated him (Jonathan) from the outside.

“If you accidentally found yourself at Aso Villa as President, it is different from somebody who gave his all to get there. Such a man cannot be compared to one who just slept and woke up and found himself in power.”

Jandor described Tinubu as a master in the game of politics and advised Jonathan to remain in retirement instead of attempting a comeback that could end in embarrassment.

He added that Jonathan would be reduced to a political minnow if he dares contest against Tinubu, noting that the president’s decades of political networking, grassroots influence, and strategic alliances have placed him far ahead of any potential challenger.

“People saying Jonathan is the only person who can challenge Tinubu because of popularity or experience are wrong. Nigeria’s political terrain has changed, and Tinubu remains unmatched,” he asserted.

Jandor further advised the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to stop recycling old leaders and instead focus on rebuilding its internal structures, youth engagement, and public trust.

“Our party must prepare for the future with new ideas and faces not keep repeating the past,” he stated.
