The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two suspected kidnappers and rescued seven abducted victims in separate operations across the country, according to a statement issued by the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The statement, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the arrests were made following credible intelligence and coordinated efforts by police operatives.
Adejobi disclosed that the suspects, identified as Lookman Tanko and Peter Apai, were arrested in different operations in Taraba State. Weapons recovered from them included multiple firearms and ammunition.

“Lookman Tanko was found with an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action rifle, and a long gun, while Peter Apai was in possession of an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and an AK-47 magazine,” the statement noted.
The two suspects are currently in police custody and are undergoing investigation, with plans underway to charge them to court.
In another operation, seven kidnapped victims were rescued by police operatives in Niger State. The victims had been taken from Tungan-Boka and Masaha villages in the Mashegu Local Government Area.
Adejobi stated that the kidnappers engaged officers in a shootout but were overpowered, leading to the safe recovery of all victims.
Additionally, in Plateau State, police carried out a raid on a criminal hideout located along Bauchi Road in Jos North LGA. During the operation, 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition linked to a culpable homicide case were recovered.
One Rescued, Others Trapped as Building Collapses in Lagos
An under-construction storey building collapsed on Sunday in the Idi-Araba area of Mushin, Lagos State, leaving an undetermined number of people trapped beneath the rubble.
According to PUNCH Online, the incident occurred in the afternoon and immediately drew emergency responders to the scene.
