His reaction followed an investigative report by Premium Times, which revealed that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), had disowned the Bachelor of Science degree certificate in Nnaji’s possession.
The university stated that the minister did not complete his academic program and was never issued a certificate.
According to court documents before Justice Hauwa Yilwa of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Nnaji himself admitted that UNN never gave him a degree certificate. Instead, he approached the court with a suit against the Minister of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), UNN, its Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Ortuanya, Registrar, and other officials of the institution.
