The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over 753 uncompleted housing units in Abuja, linked to former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Minister Ahmed Musa Dangiwa confirmed the estate will be completed and sold to Nigerians through a transparent, competitive process via the Renewed Hope Portal, following President Tinubu’s directive.
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has officially handed over an Abuja estate comprising 753 uncompleted duplexes and apartments to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The estate, previously linked to embattled former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, was forfeited to the federal government following a final court order.
Minister of Housing, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, announced the handover on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating: “Today, I had the honour of hosting the hardworking Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, as he officially handed over 753 duplexes and other apartments seized from the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.”

He confirmed the estate would be completed and offered for sale through “a transparent and competitive process… managed via the Renewed Hope Portal.”
Dangiwa added: “This marks a significant milestone in government’s effort to ensure that recovered assets are not left to waste, but are transformed into productive infrastructure that directly benefits Nigerians.”

He emphasised the government’s commitment to completing all necessary infrastructure and conducting a thorough assessment of the buildings.
The EFCC reiterated that the seizure followed an investigation and court ruling based on Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud Act. “Together with the EFCC, we will work to show that the fight against corruption can deliver real benefits — turning looted assets into livable homes for Nigerians,” the minister added.
