The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspect, David Moses, in connection with the abduction and murder of a nurse, Mrs. Chinyere Anaene, and a one-year-old toddler, Nanenter Asher Yese, in the Dawaki area of Abuja.

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the command received a report on July 23 regarding the disappearance of 55-year-old Chinyere Anaene, a nurse and caregiver at the Clear Hope Foundation Academy, Dawaki.

The missing nurse was responsible for the care of little Nanenter Yese, who was also declared missing on the same day.

SP Adeh revealed that the victim’s husband later received a ransom demand of N250 million through his wife’s mobile phone. Following a swift investigation, police operatives arrested David Moses, a security guard at the school.

The police spokesperson said the suspect eventually confessed to the crime and revealed that he had conspired with his friend, Sunday Irimiya, who is currently on the run.

“The suspects lured Mrs. Anaene to the school bathroom where they attacked and strangled her. David then took the child from a classroom and they murdered him in the same manner.

“Their bodies were placed in a sack, transported using a scavenger’s cart, and dumped in a canal. The suspect led police to the location, where the remains were recovered,” the PPRO stated.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the second suspect, Sunday Irimiya, while the investigation continues.
