Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has gifted a fully furnished two-bedroom house to Mrs. Marbel Ijeoma Duaka, a health worker from Anambra State, in recognition of her dedication and long years of service.

The governor also offered automatic employment to her son, Anthony, a graduate of Banking and Finance, at the state-owned Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri.

Presenting the house key to Mrs. Duaka in Mafa Local Government Area on Tuesday, Zulum praised her commitment, noting that she had served at the Mafa Primary Healthcare Centre for over two decades without abandoning the town, even during the peak of the Boko Haram insurgency.

“She has treated most of my family members, including my mother,” the governor said.

“The allocation letter will be issued in your name, and I urge you not to leave Mafa even after retirement. Your son’s employment takes immediate effect.”

Mrs. Duaka is among 72 teachers and health workers who benefited from the housing scheme inaugurated by the governor in Mafa.

It will be recalled that in October 2022, Zulum similarly rewarded another Igbo teacher, Mrs. Obiageli Mazi from Abia State, with a house for her diligence and punctuality after 31 years of service in the state.

Expressing her joy, Mrs. Duaka described the gesture as the happiest moment of her life.

“Today is the happiest day for me because His Excellency has honoured me and appreciated my work in Mafa. He earlier gave me a scholarship to study Health Education, and now he has provided my son with a job and gifted me a house. I am truly grateful,” she said.
