The Ogun State women’s badminton team has won the gold medal in the team event after beating Edo State 3-2 in an exciting final match.
The game took place on Wednesday at the Alake Sports Complex and was full of energy and suspense.
How the Match Happened
Back-and-Forth Game
The final match had three singles and two doubles games.

Ogun started strong and won two of the singles.
But Edo fought back and won the third singles game, making the score 2-1.
Edo then won the first doubles game, tying the match at 2-2.
In the final game, Ogun won the last doubles match and sealed the victory 3-2.
Star Performers
Leading the Ogun team was Dorcas Adesokan, an Olympian and African Championships medallist.
She played a key role in the win. Her teammates, Aminat Ilori, a former national champion, and Omotola Felicia, also gave strong performances.

Edo’s team was also tough, with top-ranked players Ruth Ebere, Deborah Ukeh, and Blessing Ihenslekhlen putting up a strong fight.

“I’ve won singles gold at this festival before, but not in the team event. I’ve really been hoping we could win this time, and we finally did it,” said Adesokan after the match.
Tough Road to the Final
Ogun and Edo didn’t have an easy path to the final.
Ogun had to beat Lagos in the semi-final, while Edo overcame Rivers State.
Both matches were close and went into the doubles.
Lagos and Rivers each earned bronze medals for reaching the semi-finals.
