The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the armed robbery that resulted in the death of Arise TV presenter, Somtochukwu Maduagwu.
According to the police, the suspects include Shamsudeen Hassan from Katsina State, Hassan Isah, 22, from Kaduna, Abubakar Alkamu a.k.a. Abba, 27, from Katsina, Sani Sirajo a.k.a. Dan Borume, 20, from Katsina, Mashkur Jamilu a.k.a. Abba, 28, from Kaduna, and Suleiman Badamasi a.k.a. Dan-Sule, 21, from Katsina.

Others arrested are Abdul Salam Saleh a.k.a. Na-Durudu from Katsina, Zaharadeen Muhammad a.k.a. Gwaska, 23, from Kaduna, Musa Adamu a.k.a. Musa Hassan, 30, from Katsina, Sumayya Mohammed a.k.a. Baby, 27, from Kaduna, Isah Abdulrahman a.k.a. Abbati, 25, from Kaduna, and Musa Umar a.k.a. Small, 31, from Borno.
Police authorities said four of the suspects, Shamsudeen Hassan, Abubakar Alkamu, Sani Sirajo, and one other, were tracked and apprehended shortly after the robbery using the victims’ stolen phones.
During interrogation, Shamsudeen confessed to shooting the security guard who tried to stop them from gaining access to the apartment. Another suspect, Sirajo, revealed that he tried to prevent Somtochukwu Maduagwu from falling off the building during the attack but was overpowered.
The suspects admitted to receiving ₦200,000 each from the proceeds of the robbery, while Shamsudeen confessed to driving away the stolen Honda CR-V jeep after the operation.
Recovered items from the gang include a fabricated AK-47 rifle, 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a locally made pistol, a pump-action gun, two live cartridges, four mobile phones belonging to the victims, two sharp knives, a cutlass, and nine torchlights used during the robbery.

Police said that acting on intelligence, officers intercepted other members of the gang, including Musa Umar and Hassan Isah, while they were on their way to carry out another armed robbery operation in Maitama, Abuja.
All suspects have reportedly confessed to their crimes, and investigations are ongoing to bring all accomplices to justice. The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring accountability for criminal acts.
