The Federal Government has filed criminal charges against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following her claim of an alleged plot to assassinate her.
The charge, filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), was entered at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory and is marked FCT/HC/CR/297/2025.
The FG accuses Senator Natasha of making a public allegation on April 3, 2025, during a live interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where she directly named Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello as individuals behind the alleged assassination plot.

The offence is punishable under Section 392 of the same code. The charge lists the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the complainant and Senator Natasha as the sole defendant.
This legal action comes after a recent Senate decision to suspend Senator Natasha for six months over what was described as “misconduct” related to her handling of sexual harassment allegations against Akpabio. The situation has since attracted significant public and political attention.
