Officers of the Nigerian Police Force, Abia State Command, have apprehended a young man who was seen roaming the streets of Umuahia while violently charging at residents with a machete.

The arrest followed a tip-off from a concerned resident and founder of ABN TV, Ifeanyi Okali, who alerted officers at the Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia after observing the young man’s erratic and threatening behaviour.

According to eyewitness reports, the youth moved from one street to another, causing panic and fear among residents along Ikot Ekpene Road, Ojike Street, and Macauley Street. He was seen menacingly advancing toward passersby, sparking alarm throughout the area.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said the suspect—believed to be mentally unstable—was quickly located and disarmed by officers.

“The Police were alerted about a young man, suspected to be of unsound mind, seen roaming the streets in Umuahia with a machete,” DSP Chinaka said.

“The DPO Central Police Station Umuahia was alerted and has confirmed that the individual was apprehended and disarmed,” she added.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm while assuring them of continued efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.

Blood Will Flow If 2027 Elections Are Rigged – Charly Boy

Veteran Nigerian singer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has urged Nigerians to brace themselves for a fierce defense of their votes in the upcoming 2027 general elections, warning that drastic measures may be necessary to secure real change.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Jay On-Air, Charly Boy did not mince words in his criticism of the current administration, accusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government of being more corrupt than its predecessor.
