Sources familiar with the decision linked his redeployment directly to the armed robbery incident that claimed the lives of ARISE News anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu (Sommie) and security guard Barnabas Danlami on September 29, 2025, in the Katampe district of Abuja.
According to an internal communication from Force Headquarters, Commissioner of Police Miller Gajere Dantawaye has been posted to the FCT, while Deputy Commissioner Wilson Aniefiok Akpan has been assigned to Kogi State.
The memo, referenced TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB.6/213, instructs provisional postings pending final approval by the Police Service Commission (PSC), as stipulated by law. The notice was circulated across all zonal and state commands, formations, and departments of the Nigeria Police Force.
