The Imo State Police Command has announced the arrest of 147 suspects involved in various crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, rape, and child trafficking, as part of intensified security operations across the state.
In addition to the arrests, police recovered an arsenal of weapons comprising seven AK-47 rifles, three AK-47 magazines, seven pump-action guns, seven locally made long guns, 178 live cartridges, and other items from the suspects.
DSP Henry Okoye, the Command’s spokesperson, stated in a press briefing that these successes were achieved through months of coordinated, intelligence-led operations under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma.

“Over the past two months, we have intensified efforts to enhance peace and security in Imo State through well-coordinated operations,” Okoye explained. “These operations have resulted in significant successes in the fight against crime.”
Among the highlights of the operations, five armed robbery suspects were neutralized during gun battles with police, and seven kidnapped victims were safely rescued.
In a significant breakthrough in Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area, Anti-Kidnapping operatives arrested 37-year-old Ozioma Ihedoro, a native doctor who was on the Command’s wanted list. He admitted to being the spiritual adviser to a suspected IPOB commander known as “B44.” Authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, and seven live rounds from his shrine.
Further arrests included three armed robbery suspects—Chinonso Anayo (“Pablo”), 21; Emmanuel John, 20; and Ifeanyi John, 20—apprehended during a surveillance operation in collaboration with Njaba Division. The suspects confessed to multiple robberies, and police seized a Q-Link motorcycle, two pump-action guns, and 15 live cartridges from them.
Commissioner Danjuma praised the resilience of police operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He emphasized ongoing efforts to eliminate kidnapping and violent crime across Imo State and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or the emergency hotline: 0803 477 3600.
