Popular Nigerian comedian Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, better known as Shank Comics, has shared a light-hearted story about his father’s conversion from Islam to Christianity.

While interacting with a fan during a recent trip to the United States, the skit maker was mistaken for a Muslim, likely due to his native name, Saheed.

He quickly clarified that he is a Christian, despite bearing a Muslim name.

Shank then explained that his father was originally a Muslim but switched faiths after receiving help from a Christian church during a time of great need.

“My dad used to be a Muslim,” Shank recalled with humor. “But there was a time he was really hungry, and a church gave him food — so he became a Christian. I swear, my dad is so cheap.”

Though delivered in a comic tone, the story highlighted how a simple act of kindness played a key role in his father’s religious journey.
