PDP’s Board of Trustees is holding a high-stakes emergency meeting at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, amid rising internal unrest and institutional setbacks.

The meeting follows Minister Nyesom Wike’s explosive withdrawal from peace talks, accusing key party leaders of betrayal.
The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is locked in a closed-door emergency meeting at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, as deepening internal crises threaten the party’s stability and leadership cohesion.
The urgent gathering comes on the heels of a major fallout involving Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who recently withdrew from ongoing reconciliation talks. According to Daily Post, Wike accused key party figures, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, of “dishonesty,” further escalating the conflict within the PDP’s ranks.
In a parallel development, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday sealed the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, over 28 years of unpaid ground rent. The action forced the PDP to temporarily relocate its core administrative functions to the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge, underlining the scale of the party’s current operational disruptions.

Party insiders confirm that the BoT is weighing a postponement of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, initially scheduled for Tuesday. The goal, according to sources, is to buy time for deeper consultations and conflict resolution before reconvening national leadership.
Present at the meeting are high-ranking PDP officials, including Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum; Governors Peter Mbah (Enugu), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi)—the current chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
Also in attendance are Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), former Senate President Bukola Saraki, PDP BoT stalwart Ben Obi, retired Navy Commodore Olabode George, former Information Minister Jerry Gana, former Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, and Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a past chair of the PDP Ministers’ Forum. Former Women Affairs Minister Josephine Anenih was also present.

Wike’s dramatic exit from peace talks on Sunday has renewed fears about the PDP’s political coherence ahead of 2027. “You cannot resolve issues when key players are dishonest,” Wike was quoted as saying, in reference to his frustration with party mediators.
With the NEC potentially delayed, and its headquarters locked by FCT authorities, the PDP’s leadership now faces a test of both administrative resolve and political will.
