Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has ignited fresh controversy by boldly declaring that his hit single Zazoo is more influential than Ice Prince’s 2011 classic Oleku, a song widely celebrated in the Afrobeats scene.

In a video that went viral on social media Monday, the Zazoo Zeh crooner confidently compared his track to Oleku, insisting that Zazoo outperforms in club plays, streaming figures, and cultural impact.

“Zazuu blow pass Oleku, tell Ice Prince,” Portable said, boasting about his steady stream of music releases and earnings from platforms like Apple Music. “They’re playing my songs in clubs. I drop hits every year, every week, every month. I send music to Apple Music and they send money. Zazuu blow pass Oleku.”

He also criticized Ice Prince for mentioning him in interviews. “Why are you mentioning my name in interviews? Ice Prince, don’t you know Zazuu is a king? I’m a king. If you want to do an interview, leave my name out if you can’t say good things about me. You just want to use me to trend.”

Portable ended by challenging Ice Prince’s relevance and calling for collaboration instead of criticism. “You refused to drop a feature, and you’re talking about Zazuu. Is Zazuu and Oleku mate? Ice Prince, I’m a king. Prostrate for king head, feature me — don’t use me to do interview.”

His remarks quickly sparked heated debate online. Supporters applauded his confidence, while others viewed the comments as disrespectful to Ice Prince and the legacy of Oleku.

One Twitter user, @makanakiiiiii, commented: “This boy and disrespect na 5&6… When Ice Prince blow, this werey still dey tiff phone for Sango.”

Another, @emperorzola, criticized Portable’s style: “This guy no fit sing better song without featuring other artists. That’s the only way his song can really blow. Na why he cries for featuring all the time.”

Adding humor to the conversation, @MarvinAgunkwo tweeted: “At this very moment they’re playing Oleku in the gym close to my apartment – you can’t make this up.”
