Two individuals have reportedly lost their lives following a violent clash between police operatives and suspected hoodlums in Omu-Aran, the administrative center of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The unrest, which occurred between May 25 and 26, has left the community on edge, according to DAILY POST.
A security officer confirmed the fatalities and revealed that the traditional ruler of the town, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Adeoti, is currently unaccounted for after his palace came under attack. The assailants also set a motorcycle ablaze during the incident.

Attempts by DAILY POST to reach both the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, and Oba Adeoti on Wednesday were unsuccessful. Despite this, reports indicate that normalcy has been largely restored to the area.
Still, residents remain anxious as security operatives patrol the town in seven Hilux vans to ensure stability and prevent further violence.
The chaos reportedly began when some individuals attempted to prevent the arrest of a suspected drug dealer by law enforcement agents, leading to widespread disturbances.
In response, the Kwara State Police Command announced the arrest of five suspects believed to be connected to the unrest. Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, has since directed intensified patrols and surveillance operations to avoid a recurrence, with investigations ongoing.
The police have called on the public to stay calm, cooperate with authorities, and refrain from spreading unverified information, reaffirming their dedication to maintaining peace, enforcing the law, and protecting lives and property in the state.
