The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards for Women’s Categories, celebrating the continent’s best players, coaches, and teams over the past year.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and dynamic forward Esther Okoronkwo earned nominations for the prestigious CAF African Women’s Player of the Year Award. Both players were instrumental in helping Nigeria clinch their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in July.

Also joining them is Chiamaka Nnadozie, who made global headlines after finishing 4th in the Yashin Trophy rankings at the 2025 Ballon d’Or Awards. She has now been recognized as one of the ten contenders for CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.
CAF confirmed that the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony will celebrate exceptional achievements between January 6 and October 15, 2025. The shortlist, featuring ten nominees in each category, reflects standout performances across Africa’s top leagues and international tournaments.
The selection process involved a panel of experts from the CAF Technical and Development Committee, seasoned coaches, respected football legends, and top media representatives across the continent.
CAF Women’s Player of the Year Nominees include:
Portia Boakye (Ghana), Tabitha Chawinga (Malawi), Temwa Chawinga (Malawi), Ghizlaine Chebbak (Morocco), Sanaa Mssoudy (Morocco), Esther Okoronkwo (Nigeria), Rasheedat Ajibade (Nigeria), Mama Diop (Senegal), Barbra Banda (Zambia), and Rachael Kundananji (Zambia).
CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year Nominees:
Chloe N’Gazi (Algeria), Sedilame Boseja (Botswana), Fideline Ndoy (DR Congo), Habiba Emad (Egypt), Cynthia Konlan (Ghana), Fatoumata Karantao (Mali), Khadija Er-Rmichi (Morocco), Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria), Adji Ndiaye (Senegal), and Andile Dlamini (South Africa).
Other categories include Women’s Interclub Player of the Year, Women’s Coach of the Year, Women’s Young Player of the Year, Women’s National Team of the Year, and Women’s Club of the Year, featuring several African talents from Morocco, South Africa, Zambia, and Tanzania.

Nigeria also made the shortlist for Women’s National Team of the Year and Bayelsa Queens for Women’s Club of the Year, highlighting the nation’s influence in African women’s football.
The final winners will be unveiled at the CAF Awards 2025 ceremony, where Africa’s best football icons will be celebrated for their remarkable achievements and impact on the sport.
