The Commissioner of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), Mr Suleiman Yahaya Vokna, has officially resigned from his position, citing personal reasons and a desire to pursue other interests.
Formal Announcement
In a statement personally signed and released to journalists on Friday, Vokna said his resignation took effect from 17th October 2025, noting that the decision was made after careful reflection.
He stated, “I, Suleiman Yahaya Vokna, hereby formally announce my resignation from the position of Commissioner with the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), effective 17th October 2025. This decision was not made lightly. It stems from personal reasons and the desire to pursue other interests.”

Vokna explained that stepping aside at this point, in his view, was in the best interest of both himself and the Commission.
Appreciation to Governor Fintiri
The outgoing commissioner expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for the trust and confidence reposed in him during his tenure.
He said, “It has been a profound honour and privilege to serve and contribute to the strengthening of democratic governance in our dear state.”
Commitment to Integrity
Vokna reaffirmed his commitment to the principles of fairness and transparency, saying that throughout his service, he remained dedicated to the core values of integrity, impartiality, and transparency that underpin credible elections.
He added, “I am deeply proud of the collective achievements of the Commission and extend my heartfelt gratitude to my colleagues for their support, professionalism, and teamwork.”
Farewell Message
As part of his farewell remarks, Vokna wished the Governor, the government, and the leadership of the electoral body continued success.
He added, “As I take this step, I extend my best wishes to the Governor, the entire government of Adamawa State, and the leadership and staff of ADSIEC for continued success in the discharge of their vital responsibilities.”
