How Over 450,000 Nigerians Vie For FG’s 10,000 Jobs

  • Over 450,000 Nigerians Applied: More than 450,000 Nigerians have applied for Federal Government jobs, despite only fewer than 10,000 vacancies available.

In a shocking display of competition, over 450,000 Nigerians have applied for Federal Government jobs, despite only fewer than 10,000 vacancies available.

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) had announced the commencement of recruitment into various positions within the Federal Civil Service in January 2025.

According to a senior commission official, “Over 450,000 applied for the last recruitment exercise. We have fewer than 10,000 vacancies.”

The official added that only shortlisted candidates would be contacted to write a Computer-Based Test in their respective states.

Application Process and Challenges

The application deadline, initially set for March 10, was later extended to March 17, 2025.

However, many applicants lamented difficulties in accessing the recruitment portal during the registration process.

Positions and Next Steps

Some of the listed positions include:
– Administrative Roles: Administrative Officer, Planning Officer, Programme Analyst
– Medical and Health Roles: Medical Laboratory Scientist, Dentist/Dental Officer, Nursing Officer
– Technical Roles: Senior Computer Engineer, Computer Engineer, Biomedical Engineer
– Other Roles: Education Officer, Psychologist, Foreign Affairs Officer, Sports Officer, and more

The FCSC spokesperson, Taiwo Hassan, said the commission would release information on the recruitment exercise in due course.

“We will make the information on the recruitment exercise available to the public soon,” he said.
