Nollywood actress Biola Bayo has dismissed circulating rumors that she endured domestic or physical abuse during her marriage.

The actress announced on Tuesday that she and her ex-husband, Seyi, officially separated in April 2024, choosing to peacefully co-parent their son.

In her statement, Biola apologized to those who may have been disappointed by the news, revealing that she had hoped the marriage would survive but had to prioritize her own well-being.

She opened up about the emotional toll the past year has taken, confessing, “I go about making people happy, yet my pillow has been soaked with tears almost every night for the past 14 months.”

Updating fans via Instagram, Biola clarified that no violence or abuse occurred in the marriage, stressing, “My ex-husband, Seyi, has never laid a finger on me and I never did as well. We never ever had any physical abuse or violent issue from either of us.”

She concluded with a plea for empathy, urging, “Let us learn to be kind to people. You have no idea what others are going through until they say it.”
