DSS confirms arrest, says investigation already in progress.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested one Innocent Chukwuma in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, over alleged incitement and public calls for a military takeover of the Nigerian Government.
Chukwuma was said to have repeatedly used his social media pages to urge the armed forces to suspend democratic rule and “dispose of the APC,” which he accused of mismanaging the country.

In one of his viral posts, the suspect reportedly claimed that a coup was “all Nigeria needs now,” while encouraging citizens to rally behind the military, which he described as the nation’s “only hope of salvation.”
According to security sources, Chukwuma also alleged that the current administration had “sold Nigeria to Western powers” and that the nation’s intelligence network was being manipulated by foreign interests. He insisted that “only the military can reset this country.”
The DSS confirmed that the suspect was traced to his residence in Oyigbo and taken into custody after a coordinated surveillance operation.
A top intelligence officer disclosed that Chukwuma is currently cooperating with investigators as the agency reviews his digital communications and online activities.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on whether he will be charged in court, but the case has raised concerns over the rising trend of social media incitement against Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
