Dele Oyewale, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed the action in a statement on Monday, emphasising that Sylva, 61, hails from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The notice followed a November 6, 2025, warrant issued by the Lagos State High Court. EFCC has called on anyone with information on Sylva’s whereabouts to contact its offices across Nigeria or the nearest police station.

Prior to the EFCC declaration, SaharaReporters had reported a military raid on Sylva’s Abuja residence in Maitama.

Sources indicated a “special military team” conducted the operation after intelligence allegedly linked Sylva to secret meetings with detained military officers involved in a purported coup plot. Sylva’s brother, Paga Sylva, was reportedly detained, and the operation also extended to the former governor’s Bayelsa residence.
