- Gombe government approved N1.3bn for a new deputy governor’s office near Government House.
- Council also approved N1.27bn for a new state fire service station.
- Five mega colleges will be upgraded to storey buildings, contract now N3.5bn.
- A new Police Divisional Office will be constructed at N461m in Shehu Abubakar district.
Gombe State Government has given the green light for the construction of a brand-new deputy governor’s office at the cost of N1.337 billion. The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation, Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, after the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday.
According to Kallamu, the current deputy governor’s office is located far from the Government House, making administrative coordination difficult. The new structure will be built within close proximity, at the old Gombe Jewel Hotel site, where other government facilities, including offices for traditional rulers in the state, are also under construction.

The commissioner explained that the decision is part of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s effort to centralize key government offices for efficiency, especially as the state continues to develop an administrative hub around the Government House area.
In addition to the new deputy governor’s office, the Council also approved the construction of a new state fire service headquarters worth N1.275 billion. At present, the fire service shares space with a local government veterinary office, a situation the commissioner described as inadequate for emergency response operations.
Kallamu further revealed that five mega colleges under construction across the state will be upgraded to multi-storey structures to accommodate more students. The upgrade raises the project cost to N3.5 billion, and he assured that the schools would be completed by January 2026.

The government also approved N461 million for the construction of a new Police Divisional Office at the Shehu Abubakar district to strengthen security within the state capital.
The series of approvals adds to the ongoing renovation and new developments around the State Government House, including the modernization of the state assembly complex, the high court, and the new state secretariat known as the “three-arm zone.”
