The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he is prepared to lose his job if that is the consequence of doing what he believes is right.

Wike made the remark on Thursday during a media briefing held after the FCT Executive Committee meeting. His comments follow a clash on Tuesday involving him, officials of the FCT Administration, and soldiers in Abuja over access to a disputed land.

“As far as my conscience is clear that I’m doing the right thing, I will do it. If it costs me my job, it’s okay,” the minister said, insisting he would not be deterred by criticism or confrontation.

He added that his performance and legacy remain his priority. “Did I perform? Yes, I did. Will history remember me? Yes. I will continue to step on toes too,” he said.

Wike has been embroiled in multiple disputes involving security personnel and political opponents in recent months, often insisting he will not tolerate actions he considers illegal or disrespectful to constituted authority.
