Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has taken a firm stand against what he described as an “insensitive and heartless” narrative suggesting that Christians are not being killed in Nigeria. In a deleted post shared earlier on his X handle, the former minister said such claims mock the pain of victims and distort the reality of ongoing violence.

According to him, Christians are “targeted and killed in large numbers,” and anyone denying the pattern is being dishonest. He described the idea that victims are buried in empty coffins as “a monstrous lie” that disrespects grieving families.

However, Fani-Kayode also emphasized that the violence is not limited to one religion. He warned that Muslims are equally being killed by the same terrorist groups, noting that the attackers do not care about the faith of their victims. He cited recent incidents to highlight his point: the schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State are Muslims, the villagers kidnapped in Zamfara are Muslims, while the girls seized in Kaduna this week are Christians. Soldiers killed in Borno were from both faiths.

He argued that terrorist groups operating in Nigeria “represent no religion” and are driven only by violence, destruction and the desire to terrorize innocent citizens. Fani-Kayode described them as “beasts” who should never be considered for amnesty, rejecting suggestions that they deserve a path to forgiveness. According to him, their crimes are too grave and the bloodshed too heavy.

He called on the Federal Government and the Armed Forces to show stronger resolve in crushing the groups responsible for mass killings, abductions and land seizures. He warned against turning Nigeria into a battleground for religious hatred or foreign interests seeking to exploit the security crisis.

Fani-Kayode urged citizens to pray for peace and unity, cautioning that forces determined to destabilize the country are working tirelessly. He insisted that Nigeria must not be allowed to slip into the chaos seen in countries like Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya. Instead, he called on Nigerians to stand together, support the government and confront terrorism as a common enemy, not a religious conflict.
