Soldiers have taken full control of Eruku community in Kwara State after a deadly attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun, which left three worshippers dead and several abducted on Tuesday.

Community spokesman Ayeni Olanipekun confirmed the military takeover and said State Police Commissioner, CP Ojo Adekimi, is on the ground coordinating operations.

“As we speak, soldiers have secured Eruku. Commissioner Ojo Adekimi is also present with his team. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the deployment,” Olanipekun said. “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is on his way to the community with his security team.”

Efforts to rescue the abducted worshippers continue. Local hunters deployed into nearby forests to track the attackers have not returned, indicating the operation is ongoing.

A viral video from the attack showed bandits opening fire inside the church, forcing worshippers—both young and elderly—to flee for cover. Some attackers were seen pursuing people into smaller rooms and confiscating abandoned belongings.

Attempts to reach CP Ojo Adekimi for further comment were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered.
