The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its mission to reset politics and democracy in Nigeria, positioning itself as a response to the destabilisation of opposition parties under successive governments.

Abdullahi explained that the party emerged as a product of political necessity, driven by government efforts to weaken opposition structures.

“In 2014/2015, the formation of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was the result of political strategy. What has brought about the ADC now is similarly a response to the government’s intention to destabilise other political parties,” Abdullahi said.

He further highlighted that conflicts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led key figures, including Atiku Abubakar, to seek alternative platforms, while some members of the Labour Party have also joined ADC.

“ADC is not merely pursuing political power. We are here to reset the rules of engagement in Nigerian politics and restore democratic principles,” Abdullahi asserted.

The party’s stance signals its commitment to structural reform and opposition unity, aiming to challenge entrenched political dynamics ahead of future elections.
