Cameramen from major networks, including NTA, Channels TV, AIT, and TVC, were present in the courtroom to facilitate the coverage.
Justice James Omotosho had scheduled the judgment after Kanu’s defence was foreclosed.
The court ruled that Kanu, having refused to enter his defence under a repealed law and having exhausted the six days allocated, had effectively waived his right to present a defence.
The judge noted that he would have granted additional days if Kanu had chosen to open his defence, stressing that the refusal cannot be interpreted as denial of the constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair hearing.
