David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, has strongly condemned the deadly attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, and the mass abduction of schoolchildren from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, Niger State.

Speaking during the 4th Pre-Shiloh Encounter Service, the cleric criticised the continued assaults on Christian communities and dismissed narratives suggesting that concerns about targeted violence are exaggerated. “The church of Christ in Nigeria is indestructible. The gates of hell cannot prevail against it. Nigeria will never become an Islamic state. Never, never, never,” he declared, stressing that the country must not surrender to extremist groups determined to impose fear. He said jihadist networks “are running” but must face consequences for their acts.

Oyedepo lamented the attack on CAC Eruku, where worshippers were shot and dozens abducted. He expressed disbelief that gunmen were demanding a hundred million naira from what he described as a small rural community already struggling with hardship.

He also condemned the abduction of hundreds of schoolchildren in Niger State, questioning why children should become targets in a country fighting to restore stability. “Fifty-two children were abducted. Why? In a country like this. Where are we going?” he asked in frustration.

The cleric further warned that the killings must not be politicised, insisting that denying the severity of the violence is both immoral and dangerous. He announced a midnight prayer session focused on confronting insecurity spiritually, declaring that “every molestation against the church shall be visited with judgment.”

Authorities confirmed that no fewer than 315 pupils and staff were taken from St. Mary’s Catholic School, though about 50 have managed to escape. Meanwhile, over 250 remain in captivity as security agencies continue search-and-rescue operations
