Twenty-four of the twenty-five schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, have been rescued, security sources confirmed to TheCable on Tuesday.
The abduction occurred on November 17, when bandits attacked the school, killing a staff member and injuring a security guard. Two of the girls reportedly escaped while being led into the bushes by the attackers.

Following the incident, local police commissioner Bello Sani deployed additional tactical units, alongside military personnel and vigilante groups, to comb forests and escape routes in a coordinated rescue operation.
The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, also directed troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to ensure no effort is spared in recovering the students and apprehending the perpetrators.
President Bola Tinubu further ordered Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to relocate to Kebbi to oversee security operations and expedite the safe release of the abducted schoolgirls.
Local authorities continue to provide updates as efforts to fully secure the remaining abductee are ongoing.
