To address Nigeria’s critical shortage of over 1.2 million teachers, the Federal Government has introduced Inspire Live(s)! Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a nationwide programme aimed at providing equitable access to education for primary and secondary school pupils. The initiative uses live, interactive lessons to ensure no child is left behind, regardless of location.
The Federal Ministry of Education confirmed that Inspire Live(s)! is designed to bridge the gap caused by insufficient qualified teachers and to guarantee uninterrupted learning across the country. According to Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations, the programme democratizes access to quality education by leveraging technology.

The programme is open to all public and private schools nationwide. JSS 1, JSS 2, and SS2 students currently receive live lessons Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Subjects for Junior Secondary include Basic Science, Mathematics, English Language, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies. Senior Secondary students have access to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, Civic Education, and Automobile Mechanics.
All classes are taught by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex. To ensure smooth nationwide execution, the Ministry has directed all State Commissioners of Education to appoint State Focal Officers. These officers are responsible for coordinating Inspire Live(s)! activities, informing school principals, ensuring schools have ICT and internet facilities, and overseeing student registration via official Inspire support channels.
The Inspire Live(s)! initiative is a major step in addressing Nigeria’s teacher shortage, expanding access to education, and modernizing the country’s learning system.
